60th Anniversary AK47 from CYMA
A fully licensed Kalashnikov complete with trademarks for a reasonable price. Only thing to make it better would be a decent rate of fire, velocity and accuracy…oh wait, it does have these things!

What’s Included, Construction
The box arrived a little abused. We received this weapon from Airsocom.com to review and it had apparently been returned, so I suppose we shouldn’t assume that all the boxes will come as such. The culprit could be Airsocom, UPS, or the previous owner, most likely the latter.
The mostly plastic gun has a good, balanced weight to it, mostly provided by the metal folding stock and metal front barrel assembly. The only other metal body part is the upper receiver. While the rest is plastic, it seems like a reasonably strong plastic with no creaking due to tolerances. The plastic pieces don’t bother me too much, except for the quad rails on the front which, again, are all plastic. The plastic does seem reasonably strong, but as we all know rails can take some serious wear from accessories. I would really prefer to see metal rails replacing these. The plastic vertical foregrip provided is wobbly. The culprit, in this case, is not the plastic rails, but the swivel joint on the grip itself. In the upright position it wobbles and does not seem secure enough to trust in a battle-intensive situation. The folding stock has some wobble, too. The attachment to the gun wobbled a bit, but I was able to tighten that down with the screws on either side. The only remaining wobble comes from the hinge and the joint. The more moving parts, the easier it is for it to break and the harder it is to be sturdy in the first place. That being said, I am not too worried about the wobble. It is minimal and reasonable considering the fact that it does indeed fold. The ICS M4 folding stock is very secure with no wobble at all, but this is simply not an ICS. The wobble is reasonable for an off-brand AEG. I cannot say whether or not this joint will become a problem a year down the road, but if treated properly, I don’t foresee much of a problem. The pistol grip is very comfortable; it’s ergonomic but there is also a very little bit of wobble.
The magazines fit snugly in the weapon. The hopup is strong; with .20g KSCs I hardly use any of the possible hopup for a flat trajectory, which shows capacity to support heavier bbs with adjusted hopup. The folding stock folds very nicely; it can be operated with one hand. Other folding stocks have been reported to require some lube or wear until it is easily operated, but this one is just right. It’s strong enough to feel securely locked when in place, yet easy to pull down and fold to the side. The metal selector switch operates easily and securely. The AK47 iron sights are generally hated by M4 users, but this is really part of the AK47 style. I like it because they don’t get in the way too much and allow the operator to see the bb traveling and adjust appropriately. Alternatively, it’s not too great for long-range shots. I suggest getting a red dot sight for it. The problem with that is that there are no rails on the upper receiver, so you’ll have to mount it to the front rails. This is still a good position for a red dot, but you don’t have the choice of position like an fully railed weapon provides. The battery compartment is under the upper receiver, which houses the stick type battery. The supplied battery is a small capacity, but it will get you through a day of airsofting. I suggest getting a larger capacity battery for prolonged battles. It is convenient though that it’s so small, lightweight, and located in the middle of the gun, which further balances it. The spring-loaded locking mechanism on the battery compartment seems a little weak. Until you get familiar with it you may have a problem with the compartment opening.
All in all, I’m pleased with the weapon’s build. It’s mostly plastic, but it still feels fairly sturdy. It’s well-balanced and comfortable to use. There is minimal wobble and I would suggest scrapping the provided vertical foregrip.
First Shots, The Chrono
This weapon has a high rate of fire and velocity. (See table below for velocities.)
Final Thoughts
Pros:
High velocity and rate of fire. Consistent hopup, velocity, and accuracy. Relatively lightweight and balanced. Folding stock for increased mobility or CQB possibility, front rails, comfortable ergo pistol grip.
Cons:
A lot of plastic, slight wobble in stock, considerably wobbly front vertical foregrip, plastic rails, no rear rails.
Conclusion:
I am reasonably pleased with the construction of this gun and very pleased with its field performance. It’s lightweight and mobile while still hitting hard with a high rate of fire. This is the licensed replica version by “Kalashnikov” but I have reason to believe that it is a Jing Gong gun with trademarks. This is a very good thing. JG guns have very good internals; many websites report the internals are better than Classic Army internals, and almost as good as G&G and Tokyo Marui internals. I recommend this weapon to those who want a mobile role, for those who want to assault. Its benefits would not be fully utilized if the person wishes to be static, although it would still hold up well.
After Battle Follow up
I field tested this gun a week ago at a weekly KSUAT event. I was very pleased with its performance despite the potential problems such as the plastic body durability, AK iron sights and accuracy, folding stock wobble, and small battery. The battery died after we finished with some post-game firing; it was barely enough capacity to get through the day.
