A&K SR25 Review
They say it shoots 450+ fps. They say its accurate. They say its amazing. Find out what we say, about the fight that is being taken to the grounds that previously only Classic Army and G&G held, with our review of the All Metal A&K SR-25.

image from PointAct.com. Does not show included front and rear iron sights.
What’s Included
Well first off the box is very colorful. It depicts a lovely desert scene in the background with the SR-25 floating in the air in the foreground. Strangely it actually says “SR-25″ right on the box. I found this a little confusing because of the lack of trademarks on the weapon itself. We were surprised they could get away with using the weapons actual name on the box. But you care about what is inside the box, so lets get right to it.

image from filairsoft.com
Of course inside the box comes one complete SR-25 rifle (with front/rear iron sites [removable]), an 9.6volt 1200 milliamp battery, nylon foregrip, quick detach silencer (not foam filled), wall charger, small package of bb’s of unknown origin, 7.62mm size hi-cap mag (very cool), bb unjamming rod, front sight adjustment tool, and a small magnetized phillips head screwdriver (we assume to get into the gearbox?).
Construction
The first thing you will notice about the A&K SR-25’s construction is that it would make a perfectly suitable baseball batt (although we do not encourage this). The only non-metal parts are the pistol grip and the stock. The RIS is securely (no wobble at all!) attached to the receiver. All screws feel very good quality, not like you are going to strip them out the first time you take it apart.
The fire selection switch is nice and clicky. You will notice however that this weapon does in fact have a full-auto ability. This is kind of strange considering real-steal SR-25 is a semi-auto weapons only. I guess this is nice incase you ever achieve gearbox lock, it is much easier to full auto your way out of that situation. Either way, the full auto is easy enough to defeat. From what we have heard you can simply replace the fire selection plate that came on the gearbox with a standard m4/m16 selector plate. When in “safe” the [metal] trigger is very secure with as hard as I was comfortable with pulling on it.
When the charging handle is pulled back to reveal the hop-up adjustment it does not fully slide the dust cover back unless you pull quickly. No big deal really though.
The battery compartment, like most airsoft m16’s, is cavernous. There is a small 2 inch trap door on the butt plate that allows the battery to be inserted. If you are putting a larger battery in simply remove the two flathead screws holding the butt plate on and you instantly reveal a 4 inch opening to put your batter, or batteries, in. Be careful though, when you remove the top flathead screw this will release the entire stock from the weapons receiver, and when you remove the bottom flathead screw the rear sling mount will fall out. The weapon does come with an inline fuse and appears to have fairly good quality, heavy gauge, wire throughout.
First Shots
I am sure this is what you are all most interested in. Without the quick detach silencer and using KSC .20 bb’s the first 10 shots all came within 15 fps of each other, around 450 fps. They ranged anywhere from 445-460 fps. Ready for the strange part? We conducted the same test with the QD Silencer attached. Velocity dropped by ~5 fps however the shots were all within 7 fps of each other. Adding the silencer made the shots more consistent? Don’t ask me why because I do not know. However if you own this weapon and get (or don’t get) the same results please leave a comment. The trigger does not feel very precise, it is almost sticky (or gritty) feeling. Not a big deal with airsoft (and I don’t know if other SR25 models are similar to this) but it just doesn’t feel like a fluid trigger.
Internals, Hop-up, Barrel, Motor
I was kind of worried that A&K would cut a corner by using a standard version 2 gearbox in the SR25. I was wrong (sorry for doubting you A&K). The gearbox is an exact clone on the Classic Army SR25 gearbox. Which means of course that it uses the PSG-1 cylinder and is supposed to be completely compatible and upgradable with CA parts for their SR25. The hop-up is a standard 1 piece metal system and seems to be very consistent and affective. The rotary adjustment nob is a little tough to turn at first but it seems to get easier after you use it a little bit. The barrel is a 509mm (m16 length) 6.04 (not confirmed) inner diameter standard design brass barrel. It does very well. The motor is of unknown origin (no label) but seems comparable to an EG1000. If you want to make this your primary role weapon then I would definitely consider a higher speed/torque motor (perhaps the ICS Turbo 3000) in order to wind the spring quicker and get that round moving as soon as possible. Also wouldn’t hurt to run more volts to wind the motor faster.
Disassembly
You take apart the A&K just like any other metal AR-15. Simply remove the receivers front main locking pin and slide the top receiver forward while the back receiver backward. Since it is a rear mounted battery there is no wiring to mess with.
Spare Parts and Upgradability
As I stated before the gearbox is a clone of the CA SR25 gearbox and is fully compatible with its parts. The barrel is of standard design along with the hop-up unit. There is no reason (that we can see) why this weapon cannot be seen a fully upgradeable piece of hardware. With the silencer affixed this weapon will house a 650mm PSG-1+ barrel.
Mag Compatibility
We have not [as of yet] tested this but reports from around the Internet state that CA SR25 magazines fit the A&K SR25 and feed flawlessly.
Final Thoughts
If you are looking to fulfill a DMR roll and don’t mind having to pay a little extra for 7.62mm mags (instead of 5.56mm mags) then this is a GREAT weapon. I really think that this is a weapon I will keep hold of.
Purchasing Info
You can purchase this weapon at www.pointact.com. Direct Link to the A&K SR25 on PointAct.com.
Pros:
All metal, long barrel, room for a longer barrel, great price for what you are getting.
Cons:
Would be nice if the gearbox would wind a littler faster. Battery can clank side to side in the stock when moving around (fixed this by lining the inside of the stock with smooth foam).
After Battle Followup
“Wow!!!” is the first word that comes to mind after playing a game with this weapon. I played with the weapon completely stock using only iron sights to acquire targets and KSC .30 bb’s. I thought this was going to be a problem. I was wrong. The iron sights actually work very well on the A&K SR-25. The scenario was an attack/defend type with my team on the defending side. I was positioned on the North side of our perimeter when I spotted the incoming enemy. They were moving across my field of fire quickly and I needed to slow them up until I could get reinforcements to my location. At the distance I was from the them I “knew” there was no way I could score hits, so I decided to just shoot at them to get them to stop (keep their heads down). I fired the first shot of the game and directly hit the guy I was aiming at in the shoulder. I could not believe it (neither could they). Only about a minute later I took another shot at similar distance and downed another enemy player. Single shots both times. I aimed right at the player with both shots. The hopup kept the bb on a smooth and flat trajectory. After the game was completed I walked off the distance of the first shot. 225 feet (it is farther than you think, go measure it out). This is in the top three of the most accurate airsoft weapons I have ever used.

Just got the sr-25 and am impressed at the accuracy and the range that I am getting from this thing. It is great for ranged shots but the pain it will bring if used in a close range combat maybe excessive. But that is the other guys problem. Great review, Great Gun.
July 24th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Just unpacked my sr25, Great looking weapon, all metal and a little heavy.
First 10 shots at 150′ grouped with 4″ of each other. (no name bb’s)
However when I went to try full auto, Nothing, selector switch is working fine, but the trigger will not squeeze when in full auto. Will have to disassemble and take a look. Even in single fire it is a formidable weapon. Actually went through my 1/2″ fence at 15′, that’s gonna hurt.
Will post later with my progress on the full auto.
July 24th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
Alright it’s me once again. After a thorough tear down of my now 2 hour old SR25, I could find no reason why the full auto wasn’t working. I took a can of Performance plus-3 electric motor cleaner to it and let it dry 20 min before reassembling. Once reassembled it fires full auto like a champ. This thing is a flat out BEAST. It tore a 3 inch hole in my 1/2″ fence in less than 3 seconds at 15′. Don’t have a chrono, But that’s high fps to do that. My 350fps ICS M16A4 barely puts an indentation at that range. All in all I would have to say that this is by far the best weapon I could have purchased in this price range. I am sure it will be a tremendous sniper rifle once fully equiped with scope and bi-pod.
July 26th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
my sr-25 also has a sticky trigger and used to not fire full auto like the other guy, id pull down the trigger and nothing, upon examining i found it was the black wire (battery to motor) was loose and comming off of the motor in the handgrip. after putting it back on and securing it well it shoots like a charm the QD silencer helps the accuracy and fps because it makes a longer barrel = more air pressure build up. so thats the weird explination of better fps. also the QD silencer is very easy to make into a real silencer with cotton pop bottle caps (with a hole in the center) and a metal outer part of a pen. ill be posting a youtube vid of it soon. enjoy and thanks for your time

seems to me that since you start with a fixed amount of air being compressed by the piston, the “longer barrel” would actually suck the bb back at a certain point, once the volume of the barrel becomes greater than the volume of the cylinder. Also, modifying any airsoft replica suppressor into an object that succesfully suppresses the weapon is HIGHLY illegal. That said, I think I will definitely be picking one of these babies up

bkeltner
where do you go airsofting because i have exactly the same gun as you but can’t find a site that will allow it because of the velocity
August 2nd, 2008 at 3:41 pm
burkefett: The nice thing about the SR25 is that it uses a PSG-1 length cylinder. This give it more volume in the cylinder to operate a longer barrel. I’m not sure which state you live in that has the laws about modifying airsoft suppressors but these laws do not exist in Kansas or Missouri.
Henry: I am a member of the Kansas State University Airsoft Team (KSUAT) (www.ksu.edu/airsoft). We have 2 fields that we play on and sometimes travel to play with the KCAA (Kansas City Airsoft Association).
August 6th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
bkeltner - The point of my post was to state that simply placing a can-like extension past the end of the barrel does nothing to increase velocity or accuracy. In fact, if one were to simply place a short extension inside the suppressor, it would actually decrease accuracy. the only solution to increasing would be to install a full-length barrel, or have a custom-bored cylinder produced, along with the associated piston.
The modifying of airsoft/paintball silencers is not restricted under state law, it is restricted under federal law. Here is a link to the official ATF ruling on paintball silencers: http://www.atf.gov/alcohol/info/revrule/rules/atf_ruling2005-4.pdf
It essentially states that any integral, non-removable device on a paintball gun is not considered a firearms silencer, but if it is cut off the weapon, it is considered a sound suppressor, and is therefore restricted. since the SR-25 QD silencer is already removable, any attempt to modify it to actually provide sound suppression is illegal under federal law, unless one has the prerequisite permits. Seeing as how it offers no sound reduction when shipped with the weapon, it is perfectly legal to purchase, but not to modify.

my Sr-25 seem underpowered. i did’nt seem to be shooting any more brutally than any other 350 fps rifle i have seen. i just add a madbull m130 spring to it and it should be fine. apart from that great weapon. very solid, and once i have added the spring, totally worth the money
September 14th, 2008 at 7:37 am
Can anyone tell me if this weapon will delvelope barrel wobble? I’ve been having bad luck with M-16’s but I like accuracy and long range.
September 14th, 2008 at 9:48 am
Kelling,
No worries man. This is one of the most sturdy and solid weapons that we have ever seen. Only thing I can think of that you might want to look for is the front gas block can be a little loose. But at the front side of the rail (looking at the bottom) stick a 1.5mm allen (hex key) through the last rail hole and you should be able to find the screw that tightens it up. Hope this info helped.
September 14th, 2008 at 11:40 am
It did, thank you.
September 14th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
I cant wait, mine will be here in 4 days. I hope it’s as good as all the hype says.
September 30th, 2008 at 6:45 am
hello !
guyz plz help…if i have o consistent problem with the trajectory of the bb’s (they just keep flying to the right after 30-40 meters) is it the hop up ?! or what…because i just can’t fix it !
September 30th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Adrian,
Usually when you have bb’s moving left/right in a windless environment it is due to one of two things. (1) There is debris in the barrel, clean it out and you should be fine. (2) The barrel is bent. Sadly if this is the case the only thing you can do is get a new barrel. Good news is that it uses a standard barrel. So you can pick up a replacement from just about anywhere.
October 1st, 2008 at 2:39 am
Thanks for your quick response, and your help,
Actually it was the hop up, the hop up bucking was not fixed properly in the barrel’s holle, so the hop up was not pressing correctly on the bucking; if any of u guyz have the same problem…take the barrel out of the hop up, put it back toghether again and make sure that the hop up and it’s bucking are properly fixed on the barrel.
Now i am happy
Thank’s again guyz !
October 5th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
Could anyone provide an exact rof or at least guess to what you think. Thanks guys.
October 14th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Adrian- this isn’t the first time ive heard of this happening, did you have to buy a new bucking for your hop up?
October 21st, 2008 at 2:49 pm
To anyone who can shed some insight. Please help!
I’m new to airsoft - not to the military or running around in the woods.
I’m putting 20 years of paintball aside to check out airsoft. blah, blah, blah…
ok - recently I bought a tuned up VSR Gspec rifle. bolt action - eh.
bolt action in real world make a difference, well until recently with more and more semi sniper rifles being fielded.
I want to know if this rifle is comparable to a VSR10.
Will there be a greater advantage to sticking with the bolt action rifle in airsoft over using a semi, high powered DMR?
Also, is there a comparable M16/M4 to this? or should I 100% get this rifle and just get the mags needed for it?
I’m seriously interested in this rifle - thought it best to post here
instead of a general form. Any answers may be of use to many
who are interested in one of these rifles.
Thanks!

The high end bolt action (spring) airsoft rifles do have 2 advantages. (1) they are very quiet. (2) because they have basically one moving part, so they are more likely to shoot extremely consistent velocities. Any true airsofter knows that a consistent weapon is much more lethal than simply a high velocity weapon. I guess, in actuality, there is a 3rd benefit. Many fields only allow weapons over 400fps if it is bolt action. Check with your local field rules. You will almost for sure have to disable the full auto function of the weapon at the least.
Since you are new to airsoft let me give you a small piece of advice. Do not marry yourself to 1 role. In this case being a marksman. In the opinion of a lot of airsoft players, you should always be able to participate as an assault type of player as well (this usually means an assault rifle that can full auto and enough ammo to support a role such as this). The reason being is that not every scenario has a place for snipers. Be diverse and fill the position that will help the team the most.
October 22nd, 2008 at 11:35 am
bkeltner,
thank you! much appreciated with the bolt action advantages!
I will most likely hang on to the bolt and possible purchase the A&K SR25 also. Decide on what works best for what situation later.
Now for marrying to one role - I have been into ghillie stuff since the mid 80’s. I was in the military with some different experiences there. I have been playing paintball since ‘88. I know what I like to do in the field!
but as I know…what works in one situation does not work in another.
airsoft has it’s limitations as paintball does also. a real steel bolt action
shoots much further than an assault etc etc. I am just more unaware of the parameters in Airsoft. learning quickly!
I own two G&P M4 set ups. for assault play. I’m about to take my buddies M249 away from him at some games…I like many roles.
I have just been a sneaky, highly convert person in my woods experiences. I know what fits me.
*With this rifle - disconnecting the full auto - how difficult? how permanent is that change (can it convert back, if desired)?

The nice thing about the A&K SR25 is that on the lower receiver, right next under the selector switch, is a notch. Then on the fire selector switch itself it has the notch cut out. Simply buy a standard selector switch (that doesn’t not have the notch cut out) and use it to replace the stock selector switch. Now the notch on the receiver will prevent the selector switch from being flipped into full auto.
completely reversible.
Regarding the Sniper’s Role. I am a fairly accomplished, real-steal, weapons user. I understand what you are saying. Just wanted to offer some advice.
October 27th, 2008 at 10:39 am
bkeltner,
know where you’re coming from.
trust me, it’s common advice in paintball too.
anybody new wants to be a “sniper”
I tend to let them skip along, if it’s right for them,
they stick with it and perfect it. When I know they
will listen and understand, I tend to help them out
with suggestions, or tips.
I have just heard the advice from teenagers
who are new themselves and repeat what
they have heard - lol
Back on topic: on the fence with the A&K SR25. I have posted in Airsoft forums about this rifle or a M14. any thoughts?
November 5th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
I have an A&K SR 25 and am trying to upgrade it. I am just having trouble since this is my first rifle. What gearbox should I get to upgrade it? I want to put an M150 spring also. I can use a cylinder kit for a PSG-1, I think… What about a (long) ICS turbo 3000 motor? I know I sound like an idiot, I just don’t want to mess up my gun, funds being limited and all!!! One more thing, on a bugetary basis, in what order should you upgrade parts to not damage others?
November 9th, 2008 at 10:44 am
Hey im also new to airsoft and i cant really decide if i should buy A&K M16A4 RIS (also full metal) or this SR25. Its very hard to decide because there is a lack of reviews about the A&K M16A4 RIS on the web.
However these rifles from A&K came at the same time and as far as im concerned the only internal difference is the gearbox which is a version 2 in the M16A4 so im asking u if any1 could tell me if the M16A4 would be at least as good choice as this RS 25 ?
The reason im more atracted by the M16A4 is the mags cuz im palnning to use the standard m4/m16 variants later…
I hope that this question wasnt too OFF
November 17th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Where do you get the 7.62mm mags???
November 17th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
You can get 7.62 mags from ClassicArmy (for their SR25) or you can get the actual A&K version (exactly like the CA). You can buy the A&K mags on PointAct.com.
The only make hi-caps for it though…sadly.
December 1st, 2008 at 5:52 pm
OK, thank you. I’ve looked all over the internet and i haven’t found a site that has the SR-25 in sock. Where should I go?
December 1st, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Is there anywhere to order parts for it??? mine came with a broken hop up system and a scratched barrel that makes the bb’s go everywhere

hey ??????, where did you order your gun in the first place
January 14th, 2009 at 11:31 pm
Evike.com has some, just got mine in the mail yesterday.

Does anyone know if this gun can handle an M203 long attachment?
January 21st, 2009 at 11:32 am
Alex,
The barrel is the length of a standard m16. So it should fit.
February 7th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
Ok, i am looking at this rifle but i have some questions.
1. My last gun was a scar by JLS…. awfull and broke fast. I found that gun at 7lbs to be the perfect weight, will this gun be too heavy for me at 15 and 5:10?
2. I play a lot of high ground and woods matches, is this a good gun for these scenarios?
3.I am on a budget and dont want a good scope right now, are the iron sights accurate?
4. Is this gun accurate with .2’s and .25 gram bb’s as i only have those available locally.
5. Is this one better than the short version for woods games/ does it look better, i am worried about the full stock being to long for me as well if it weighs over 10 lbs.
February 7th, 2009 at 5:32 pm
Tomyg,
1. This weapon is not really any heavier than an all metal m16.
2. This is not an assaulting weapon. It is pretty high velocity and works very well in “under the radar” missions. Although that is not to say that you couldn’t use it assaulting.
3. Iron sights are fully adjustable. Get them dialed in and you will be fine.
4. I mostly used .25s (which you can read from this review) worked great. .30s work also once you get them dialed in.
5. It has the same length inner barrel as the shorter version. But since this version comes with a suppressor you can easily house up to a 650mm (PSG-1+) inner barrel inside.
February 7th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Thanks, bkletner, just 1 more question, is the stock rattly/ uncomfortable? I am considering getting the collapsable stock version due to the large type battery and comfort level even if it is sacrificing looks for a dmr.
Oh and before i forget, could u use the m16 spr mod 0 conversion kit on this? I want the looks of an spr but without the crap quality of a d-boys.
Thanks.
March 17th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
I just got mine from airsplat.com. Try them.
March 25th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
I now have 3 of these excellent AEGs
2 full sized and the K version.
I replaced the selector switch on one of the full size and used a stock M4 one so it was stuck in single shot, (added some other cosmetic pasts too aswell as some krylon). The K i have replaced the motor in and now use it as my standard assault weapon over my M4s
the selector switch is a quick job and can be reversed no problem at any time. On the subject of mags i would stick to A&Ks own mags as i have tried the CA mags and the feeding from them was dodgy on all 3 guns, single shot was fine, full auto was a no go. All in all excellent value for money on all 3 guns, even the smaller SR25k has fantastic range and accuracy.

Hey bkeltner,
I need some advice bro.
See, i really really like the sr25k and the m16a4 (both a&k) but the sr25k is in stock while the other is not. However, it looks like the m16 is longer, and therefore more suitable for a sniping and assault role. The sr25k also takes a smaller battery, and also costs more on weaponblender, my preferred site.
Any opinions would be great. I don’t want the m16a4 spr because of the lower fps.
Thankyou, Mr. BlueBlood

I am due to receive a SR-25 from evike any day now and have been doing a lot of research into upgrades. For fun, I am likely going to get a Leapers red/green dot sight and tactical flashlight for those night games where a scope is somewhat less than practical and I want to take more of an assault role, as well as a 4X40 scope for when the sniper mood hits me (likely a bipod too). A lot of reviews talk about upgrading to a 6.03 X 509mm tight bore and better hop up bucking, not to mention pistons, bushings, etc. How important do you think the tight bore and hop up bucking upgrades are? I’n not really looking to increase fps, just accuracy. Mostly I want a durable/consistent weapon that will last a long time.
May 6th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
will an m170 spring fit on the sr25
May 7th, 2009 at 2:06 am
Hello!
I have problem of jaming mag`s, the fire two or three bb`s and then the weapon stop firing! Would it be beter if I By CA or G&P magasines? BTW: it is same with mid and hi-cap!
May 27th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
I am about to order this gun but first i have a question. I am ordering from Evike.com and do you know what kind of battery they send with it? In your review you got a 9.6 volt whereas in another review on airsoftretreat.com they complained about how they got an 8.4 volt battery. Which does evike include?
June 16th, 2009 at 8:35 am
i have ordered this gun off of airsplat.com, while I had it the sheer performance of this gun was amazing, it had a high fps and because I put my 11.1v lipoly battery in it the gun had a crazy rof, until my spur gear stripped and my piston stripped as well. Can anyone reccomend any gears and pistons that can handle the extra stress. Also note that sr 25s use a altered piston that is longer than most other pistons.
June 16th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
I have this gun and it is amazing. Got it and a 11.1v lipoly off of airsplat and the rof was amazing until my gears and piston stripped. Does antone know of any good replacement parts I could get to handle the high fps and rof of this gun?

Hi,
firstly, what a great review and follow on thread here. It’s been really useful so thanks to all.
I am one of two dedicated sniper players in my airsoft team for years now. Sadly, my bolt action airsoft replica recently broke. also recently at a large international airsoft game in Sweden, the limitation of single shot bolt action became very clear ! [I appreciate the valid reaction some may have to fieldcraft here and accept them]
So I’ve returned to an old plan of mine. When I first investigated this, there was little hope [years ago] but now with advances in performance and quality, I’m back considering the SR-25 platform.
I play milsim alot so want to maintain realism.
I’d sure appreciate the opinions of this who have the A&K SR25.
1) Not withstanding the trademarks being missing, does this model present as a good copy of the real thing? [When compared picture against picture]
2) Would a G&P Knights sniper stock be compatible ?
3) Given I want realism, should I got the more expensive route and by the G&P or does the full metal construction of the A & K deliver good realistic feel and weight?
4) Is the magazine that comes with the A&K a wind up one?
5) Don’t suppose anyone has tried to mod the mag into a low cap somehow have they?
6) Bang for buck, would the A&K model be a good base platform to use to build my new sniper replica from. I will paint it anyway so surface finish is not a big concern.
7) Anyone had any breaks or can comment on durability in the field . [non internals]
Have Fun

That magazine is a hi-cap (wind up). Really no way that I can think of to turn one into a low cap. Pretty sure that nobody currently makes a lowcap (real cap) mag for any sr25. You have hi-caps and mid-caps. Mid-caps are not cheap. The only thing that is not realistic about the A&K SR-25 is that it has full auto capability as where the real version does not. However A&K thought of this. If you purchase a standard AR15 selector switch and replace the one that came with the A&K SR-25 it will defeat the full auto function by not allowing you to select it with the switch. Great rifle, just read my “After Battle Followup” at the end of the review.

Hi bkeltner,
Many thanks fella. Much appreciated.
If I get it, well, when I get it …. I will need to defeat the auto so thanks for the advise on that.
Your after action follow up nails it for me …. aitsoft after all means that distance difference between all AEGs is much less and getting spotted is much more likely. At 225 ft +/-, that’s not at all bad and fieldcraft and well planned ‘get outs’ will make it very acceptable for my role. The semi allows for much faster target aquisition where multiple targets exist [not to mention that immediate follow up after that first BB just missed!!]
I’m prepared to take the chance on the stock if will reply back with here with the results [but it will be weeks in the future before I can do so]
Greetings for Austria!

hi, I have a problem with my a & k sr25 .. it shoots extremely unprecise.. someone who has had the same problem and managed to fix it?
thank you !

does anyone know if this rifle can handle an m160 spring?
August 8th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Dear bkeltner,
I’ve had the SR-25 Carbine version for 6 months now. And I feel like I want to improve my groupings. So, I have a couple questions about adding new parts.
1.) How long is the QD Silencer in the full version? If I bought a 190 mm (length) Silencer would I be able to install a 650 mm tightbore barrel?
2.) What spring would be best to add into the gun without replacing anything like the motor, piston… (Using the 650 mm barrel)
3.) If I am adding in a new barrel should also throw in new bushings and shimming? What do bushings and shimming do?

hey how do you take the gun apart i really need help plz
August 18th, 2009 at 11:06 am
This weapon brakes apart like most other full metal ar-15/ar-10 rifles. Pull the front receiver pin and the upper and lower receiver slide apart.
August 18th, 2009 at 11:10 am
Pem,
With the included QD Supressor it WILL fit a 690mm PSG+ Barrel. It is a close fit though.
Don’t know why you would want to replace the spring. This weapon is pretty hot. Over some field limits infact. Although an m140 would be about as high as i would want to go.
The including Bushing and Shim job seem sufficient. However I would not put a large battery and full auto this weapon. I have personally seen 2 of these weapons go down because the operator was full autoing. That is very hard on a weapon that shoots this hard.

I’ve had mine for about a year now. Only really used it on the field twice but it is a beast as other people have stated. Inside 100 feet this gun really hurts. Been using .25 and I really don’t see a need for .30 bb’s. I have used mine full auto a lot just shooting around and it never seems to have a problem. That would be what it’s made for if it has that option imho.

Hi folks,
This post is a little long. Apologies where necessary but I hope it’s worth the read.
I too bought an A&K SR25 and am very pleased overall. My power is lower than average at 410 but as a base for my plan, it’s perfect.
I am considering some mechbox upgrades to improve;
a) reliability
b) quietness
c) possible modest FPS improvement
The limited gearsets available for elongated gearboxes concerns me a little. CA internals have not filled me with confidence in the past. G&P are better but have no helical gear sets available.
Normal V2 gearboxs have a huge range but the sector gear if different.
I’ve not seen this idea posted anywhere yet.
If this makes sense, it means the gearset upgrades for our SR25 are no longer limited as we can use whatever normal version2 gearsets we like. Hopefully it’ll be useful to you all also!
Otherwise, please be gentle when you highlight by gaping error in logic!
1) We all know A&K SR25 uses an elongated version 2 mechbox …. and thereby, an elongated piston …. which requires a ’sector gear’ with 19 teeth instead of the normal sector gear’s 16 teeth.
2) Otherwise, I believe the A&K SR25 bevel and spur gear are common with normal gears.
G&P and CA SR25 gearsets appear to be the only available … specifically for SR25.
3) If you used a normal sector gear it would not fully compress the spring as it would only compress it 16 teeth worth, and not 19 worth.
So this immediately sounds not too good!
4) So what if a spacer, [the equivalent length of the 3 extra teeth on the SR25 sector gear] is secured properly behind the spring guide inside the mechbox, thereby positioning the spring further forward in the gearbox. Now using a normal sector gear, it could compress the spring the same amount as if using an proper SR25 sector gear.
Right??
The logic here is that I’ve effectively reduced the length internally of the mechbox by shifting the spring forward the eqiuvalent length of the ‘missing 3 sector gear teeth’.
What I lose by using a normal sector gear with 16 teeth instead of 19 teeth, I gain back be shifting the spring forward the same distance those extra 3 teeth.
This assumes careful, proper placement and securing of spacer [I’m thinking about machining a piece of ALu, specifically for the job]
This makes sense to me, but before I go and experiment [which I will], I thought I’d put it out here first!
Actually, using a normal M120 spring in the stock A&K SR25 setup, the spring never reaches full compression because of the elongated mechbox, so a slight longer spacer behind the spring guide would compensate for this also.
Sorry again the long post

double post ;(
Obvious cost with the above is not using the full cylinder meaning loss in maximum air pushed and obviously, you cannot use a normal cylinder.
hmmm …
With optimum spring compression, however, this may still be worthwhile.

I was just wondering how long do you think it will take for the battery to charge on the standard wall charger that it comes with???
October 1st, 2009 at 5:43 pm
umm hi thanks for the great review, i just recently bought this gun. I was just wondering what an appropriate battery choice would be for this gun, like as good as a battery as possible without doing any damage to the internals????? I heard some one earlier on the thread had said he used an 11.1V on his, and he stripped the gears. So would a 10.8V Nimh be to much do you think?? i would like to play it safe, so what ever you think would be appropriate. thanks

Paul,
A friend of mine who is on my team has this weapon. He was using a 10.8v and had no problems until he started full auto’ing the weapon. It then stripped the teeth right off the piston. Just a word of warning. Single fire your SR25. That is what it is supposed to do anyway.

This gun is great!
I use it as a sniper/dm and only use semi (replaced the selector switch with a M4/M16 one and it can’t go to full auto any more)
Out of the box and it shoots pretty accurately!
I bought G&G’s low cap mags (50rd,short ones) and they fit just fine.
A good choice for a Marksman-Sniper-Counter Sniper role!
As of upgrades,I’m about to change a few gearbox parts and put a 650mm PSG-1 inner barrel (6.02 Dep Fire)…
Gonna see how that will work.
October 15th, 2009 at 8:32 pm
I’m less than a day from purchasing this gun and have one important question. I would just like to make absolutely sure that the inner barrel length is 509mm. I’ve heard many different lengths and I just want to be completely sure before I spend $40 on a tightbore for no reason.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
November 10th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
hey guys i was wondering if ishould put a 509mm tightbore or a 650mm i wont take the silencer off so would the 650mm give me better fps or range since its longer

marius- what i have heard is that the hop up system is messed up inside u have to go in and realign the rubber thing inside search it on youtube its all over

I want to be a designated marksman or sniper of some sort and was looking for some good dmr’s. I saw the sr-25 and the m14 ebr but i cant find any more decent full auto dmr’s. Does anyone no of any or have any tips on which one i should choose?
June 26th, 2010 at 11:48 am
I’m having accuracy issues with mine. I just ordered a new hop up rubber and bucking which should help. I’m considering getting a new barrel as well.
Any barrel suggestions?
What else can I do to help improve the accuracy?
